The Blame Game
Dan Baxley The dirty game of Guilt --
It is always someone else’s fault, isn’t it? To be fair, not everyone takes that approach. There are vast numbers of people willing to take the blame for their actions but in a like number there are just as many willing to blame everyone, even God, for their problems. Usually, when something good falls into the lap of the “blame gamers” they immediately accept the good and quickly accept responsibility for having been responsible for their good fortune. They made it happen, they earned it, they deserve it, etc., etc. We see the “blame gamers” in the news as individual and as groups, races, and religions. The most noticeable among the religions is found among the Moslem populations. They like to “blame” the United States, or Israel for their problems – never themselves. With individuals we are all aware of “blaming” our parents for our failures. Who are the parents to blame? Their parents? You see the problem with this circular pattern, don’t you? A funny thing crops up in the media when it comes to super stars; how often have we listened to people we would think are sitting on top of the heap begin unraveling their hurt feelings before the hungry populations about the mistreatment and abuse they endured as children? Are they “blaming their parents, or some other adult for their success? No, well some do, but many do not -- the truth is they are miserable and they take all of the credit for their success in spite of their mistreatment as children. Look at all of the child stars, virtually to the person they are hurt, damaged individuals not willing to accept responsibility for their own actions as adults. How does this square with people like Ron Howard, a child star that has become very successful in the movie industry? He grew up, he became an adult, and to my knowledge he has never blamed his parents for any of his short-comings. We all have short-comings, we all fall short somewhere. Those in the public eye are under a tremendous pressure to perform and they must develop coping skills the average adult does, or should not need, and many are unable to manage their lives properly due to these pressures and temptations. With all of the fame, the glory, the money, they can still be miserable and under the guise of helping others by revealing their most private secrets they are attempting to fill in this black hole of misery. What they really need is a good dose of the Spirit of the Living God and their misery would turn to joy and their hate to love and blaming others for the emptiness in their hearts would vanish. The burden of guilt unspoken is heavy and if we can figure a way to punish someone for our feeling of guilt perhaps we can stop this hurting. And this begs the question, If we are to blame our parents who are they to blame? It is a never-ending circle of blame and guilt and on it goes -- this blame game. Do not make the mistake of thinking I am speaking of child abuse with the child being responsible for that abuse -- never. Children are innocent and are not to be “blamed” for such abuse in any way, and the adult that hurts children in this way should be thrown into the sea with a heavy stone roped to their necks. What happens, however, when the child becomes an adults? Certainly there are issues from those early years to be dealt with, especially the feeling of guilt on their part – a guilt that should never have been placed on them and this weighs heavy on the heart of the abused child. The burden of such a heavy guilt placed on the heart at such an early age adds something the rest of us do not have to deal with. We can easily excuse ourselves from childish error, the mistakes of youth, but the abused child is made to feel at fault and it is a hidden fault, a deeply hidden, an unjustified guilt. When adults are sitting around laughing at the things they did, the troubles they got into as children, you will never hear someone interjecting into this fun of childhood memories any account of the day they were first molested. This deeply seated guilt, an innocent guilt, a guilt not deserved is most definitely the fault of the offending adult. We are not talking about playing Doctor, the show me yours and I’ll show you mine -- that still remains in the realm of childhood curiosity -- no we are talking about the selfish sexual gratification of an adult opon (against) a child. It is a credit to the many that have endured this kind of injury and gone on in their lives. Certainly some are affected more than others, and some are better at handling these unjustified feelings of shame. When one accepts the love of the Christ these dark holes of guilt begin to diminish. We already know His attitude toward such evil, we truly have a friend in YaHshua -- especailly those injured in that way. He mention no mercy for such offenders and they will certainly have no place in the coming Kingdom. What is the opinion of our Savior, your friend? Mat 18:6 But whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea. What is not understood and rarely admitted to -- we all have feelings of guilt, perhaps not as sever as the abused child, but we all share in a guilt, a universal guilt of the flesh. Hidden within the heart of every man and woman is a small little place that make us very uncomfortable about ourselves. Some turn to careers of mercy in attempts to cover this feeling, others use hate to cover this feeling and this in turn leads to “blaming” others giving you an excuse to be murderous, if not in deed at least in thought. Our freedom from these pains, from this guilt is found in the Savior. He is not only going to return to this World and claim His position as King of Kings, Ruler of Rulers, but to remove the pain of this World from the hearts of those hurting. You can experience that, in part, now by the act of “repentance”, not from what others have done to you but from your own evil thoughts. Anyone that says they have no sin, the truth is not in them, not my words -
1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. The Clean Game People of the Christian community are prone to blame the Devil. It became a joke, “The Devil made me do it”, but it is no joke. Christians practice this kind of blaming throughout their whole lives. Everything and anything deemed to be bad is “blamed on the Devil or his demons. In today’s environment it is all a joke, after all, those beings don’t exist, not really, right? But still, there is this under tone that something else made you do, or think some evil thing, or tell that little fib, look away from that bum that obviously needs some help – it’s not us, is it? By this kind of “blaming” they deny the power of the Living God. “Resist the Devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). The key word here is “resist” do you get it? We are to maintain control of ourselves, this means physically and mentally. “Resist and he will flee from you”, should be imprinted in our minds. But, there is another part to this, quoting the complete verse, realize the complete instruction. Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Devil and his friends cannot touch you, a true believer, without the Fathers approval. "Submit" yourself to God the Father. How do you do this? By the acceptance of His Son as your personal Savior, from that point in time you are protected and all you have to do is resist, know you have the authority of your Heavenly Father on your side. We must be realistic in this, he, the Devil, is not pestering us in every little piece of our lives, remember, you have resisted, he, the Devil is gone. We are not told how long we must resist, it is a blanket statement and could mean for the rest of your life, as we see by the lives of those before us. But, this verse implies our submission to our Heavenly Father gives us the power to resist such a strong spirit. For those that lower their defenses, that invite a spirit to "come on in" are asking for trouble. This lack of resistance leads to people running like madmen around the church, or becoming glued to the floor or even becoming drunk for days on end -- this is not reisting, my friends, but just the opposite. We must, as some point, accept responsibility for our actions and in our submission to our Heavenly Father we will resist Satan -- the struggle will not be in vain.
Running a stop sign and getting a ticket is not the Devil in a blue suit. You ran the sign, you are responsible and may get a ticket and you will have to pay it. Getting sick from a bad diet is not the Devil attacking you, it is you attacking you. The Word of the Living God tells us that the Creator loves the people of this world so much that His mercy is extended to the wicked as well as the righteous. Even the righteous will have to make a choice about the Son of God. That's right, I said, even the righteous, men like the Dali Lama, he is not an evil man, he does pratice righteousness and the day is coming when he wil have to bow before our Lord YaHshua as King of Kings.
(Rom 14:11) It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' " MKJV(John 3:18) He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God. MKJV(Php 2:9) Therefore God has highly exalted Him, and has given Him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of heavenly ones, and of earthly ones, and of ones under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. MKJV
All of the wicked will have to repent also or face the flames of hell fire. The deserving and the undeserving share in the bounty of this earth and its beauty and its ability to feed us. We all, together, receive the benefit of rain in its season. This being true we must then admit that when evil strikes it is not always by Satanic design. Bad things do just happen. Innocent people do die or are injured by accident or by events set in motion by other men. The poor of this world are not always poor because they deserve it or because they are lazy or because the Devil wants them poor. This is also true of the rich. Some people are rich because of circumstances, not because they are smarter or better than poor people. Matthew 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. KJV Our Savior makes that statement right after He instructs us to “Love our enemies” and to treat our neighbors as we would like to be treated. This is not a matter of loving in the sense of giving up our senses, or our freedom but is in the fact, as children of God, we should be as concerned about humanity on a personal, individual level, just as our Heavenly Father is. He would like for everyone to be save, for everyone to turn to Him, He has made it possible by and through His Firstborn -- our Savior, YaHshua. A child of His sees this world with different eyes and they are not eyes of hate and revenge, but understanding -- for we too were once part of the living dead, in Him we have life eternal. Our judgment should be His judgment and we can be certain is it by the study of His Word and words -- words He has passed down to us by His prophets of old and the Apostles, and the Messiah Himself -- Firstborn of the many to follow. In our understanding of the World, seeing it in this new light, realizing we do not all have a choice about our circumstances – some poor, some persecuted, some born into hostile environments – we should share in their sorrow and understand, many will suffer at the hands of the wicked in this world -- the willing wicked, followers of the “spirit of Satan”, they shall have no part in the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of Eternity. 1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionist, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. We must stop playing the ‘blame game” and accept the responsibility of our sins. It is our “repenting” to the Living God in Heaven and the confession of our sinful nature and the desire to change, to become that new man, that new woman that heads us on a new journey while we patiently await the return of Yahshua to begin the healing of this world and the imprisonment of Satan and the extraction of the wicked, those so evil as to reject the offer of “eternal life”, those with the personality of their “father” Satan. Once you answer the call, once you throw yourself down in front of His Mercy Seat He will change you, He will give you a gift made only possible through our Savior's sacrifice, that gift, the “mystery” from the ages, that “mystery” the prophets of the Old Covenant desired to see – God in us. 1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: There is certainly a lot more that could be studied about this ‘mystery” that has been hidden throughout the ages. But that is another subject I will cover in more detail later. For now it can simply be understood that “YaHshua in us” is the mysterious thing the prophets talked about but did not understand. They prophesied about Him but never really grasp what they were writing about. “the Christ in you” is the Holy Spirit in you, a partial payment of what is to come. Col 1:26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. 2Co 5:5 Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. NIV While strangers to this world and while we may all live in various situations and even circumstances beyond our control we can all be equally rich in the Word of the Living God. We have a future, a bright future, and we will one day be like YaHshua, He being the “firstborn” of many. We have a fantastic future to look forward to. It might help to see that we are in training for what is to come.
